SG Series: valve seats and guides

The SG Series machines cylinder head valve seats and guides with one simple idea: the seat must be concentric to the guide. A UNIPILOT carbide pilot centers in the guide, the air-float spherical-alignment spindle follows the true axis of the guide, and the seat is cut around it.

From the precision manual model to the programmable guide-to-guide center, the method stays the same: only the level of automation and the size of head accepted change, from automotive and racing heads to large diesels.

UNIPILOT centering

Solid carbide pilots centered directly in the guide: maximum rigidity, seat concentric to the guide, whatever the head.

Spherical-alignment spindle

Automatic pneumatic alignment: the spindle compensates for guide misalignment. The work table floats on an air cushion for positioning.

Multi-angle cutting

Multi-angle carbide inserts: the seat angles are cut in a single operation, with an on-board insert sharpener on the automatic versions.

From manual to automatic

Touch-screen control across the range. The SG10XY and SG100XY run on their own, guide to guide, with servo motors and a variable-speed spindle.

The models

The SG Series models.

SG9MTS

The precision manual model, in MANUALMATIC mode (automatic functions) or manual. Ø 80 mm spindle, air-float table, ±15° tilt, built-in vacuum leak tester, optional 360° head roll-over.

SG10XY

The programmable automatic guide-to-guide center: servo-driven positioning from one guide to the next, X-axis fast alignment system, electronic level and angle sensor.

SG100A

Large capacity for heavy-duty engine heads, from small to very large. R40 taper spindle, carbide pilots, conversational touch-screen control, 360° roll-over as standard, plunge cutting of large seats.

SG100XY

Automatic large capacity: programmable guide-to-guide, SSV spindle speed variation, Windows touch-screen control. Fixtures for four single-cylinder heads or for large 24-valve castings.

Frequently asked questions

Before you choose.

Why must the seat be concentric to the guide?

Because the sealing and the service life of the head depend on it. The UNIPILOT carbide pilot centers in the guide and the spherical-alignment spindle follows the true axis of the guide: the seat is cut around it.

SG9MTS or SG10XY?

SG9MTS: the precision manual model, with MANUALMATIC automatic functions. SG10XY: the programmable guide-to-guide center, with servo-driven positioning. For large diesel heads: SG100A and SG100XY.

Are the seat angles cut in one pass?

Yes, with multi-angle carbide inserts, and an on-board insert sharpener on the automatic versions.
