EM100 Series: large capacity machining centers
The EM100 Series is a unique concept in machine tools: giant CNC machining centers designed to machine the heaviest engine blocks quickly and accurately — and yet as easy to use as a smartphone thanks to Rottler conversational programming. No programming knowledge is required: an operator is trained in a few days.
Once the part is mounted and the cycle started, the machine does everything: boring of a complete bank of cylinders, a full line of bearings, multi-pass surfacing while the operator works on another machine. Jobs are done in a third of the time of a conventional machine.
Rottler · Large capacity machining centersEM100 SeriesXXL size, fine precision
Traveling column on linear roller guideways, large-diameter direct-drive ball screws, hard-chrome sliding spindle: the Rottler design proven since 1923, at the scale of 8-tonne blocks.
Complete unattended cycle
Automatic Cycle software: wireless Renishaw probing (option), cylinder-to-cylinder boring, automatic bearing line, rough + finish surfacing. The operator mounts the part, presses “Cycle Start” and moves on.
Fixed part, traveling column
Open-column design: the part stays fixed on the table, the column moves above it. Very heavy or oversize setups are placed and clamped easily — including construction equipment parts.
Built-in special repairs
Custom programs directly on the touch screen: rework of corroded water passages (e.g. CAT3500), automatic offset lower sleeves, bearing cap shims, thrust faces by circular interpolation.
The EM100 Series models.
For on-highway blocks (trucks, buses) up to mid-size engines such as CAT3508 and 3412, Komatsu 170 V12, MTU 2000 V16, Cummins K38, Detroit 60, Mercedes 400 V12.
For the large engines of mining, oil and gas, power generation and marine, up to CAT3516, Cummins QSK60, MTU 4000 V16, Waukesha 7042.
The giant of the range: V20 blocks such as CAT3520 and C175 V20, MTU 4000 V20, Cummins QSK78, Waukesha 9390.
