EM70 Series: engine block machining centers
The result of more than 100 years of Rottler experience, the EM70 Series is a new class of machine, designed as much for the rebuilder of small and medium diesel engines as for the racing engine builder. A single platform for all everyday work: boring and sleeving, surfacing of heads and blocks, line boring of main and camshaft bearings, and even general CNC machining with Rottler CAM software.
Its large capacity allows dual work stations: one block is bored and surfaced on one side of the machine while another is mounted on the other side for line boring. Special fixtures allow fast loading and a change from a V block to an in-line block in minutes. All settings are stored by the CNC for instant recall.

Two stations set up at the same time: boring on one side, line boring on the other. The extra-long T-slot table runs job after job with no idle time.
Automatic line boring
Program the diameters and length of each bearing: the machine runs the full line, bearing after bearing, unattended, including facing of the thrust faces perpendicular to the bearings.
One setup, every operation
Connecting rods (Rottler patent: small end and big end bored in one setup, identical center distances across a whole set), patented dual-axis leveling table for CBN/PCD surfacing, water hole repair, offset sleeve boring...
Powerful yet simple
19" Windows touch screen, conversational CNC, automatic tilting head for a superior surface finish. ATC version with automatic tool changer for unattended sequencing.
The EM70 Series models.
The same capabilities, plus the automatic tool changer and extended cycle software (lower sleeve offset boring, water hole repair, general CNC machining): the machine runs the operations on its own.
The dual-station multi-purpose center: boring/sleeving, surfacing, main and camshaft line boring, general CNC machining.

What does an EM79 do that a boring machine does not?
On a single platform: boring and sleeving, surfacing of heads and blocks, automatic line boring bearing after bearing, connecting rods, and general CNC machining with Rottler CAM software.
What are the dual work stations for?
One block is bored and surfaced on one side while another is mounted on the other side for line boring: no idle time between two jobs.
EM79 or EM79ATC?
The EM79ATC adds the automatic tool changer and extended cycles (offset lower sleeves, water hole repair, general CNC machining): the machine runs the operations on its own, for production.
